In case you haven’t figured it out yet, I’m a huge sucker for alliteration.
I realize I missed the last two weeks of updates on my fitness challenge. I’d apologize, but well, I’m not sorry. I was busy scheming my sweet blog revamp. And really, what better way to kick off Fit Friday’s than with the much anticipated final challenge update.
I totally rocked the cardio portion of the challenge. The cardio portion was actually training for the Women’s 10K presented by New Balance which is Sunday. I feel really prepared, but it’s supposed to be pretty hot so I’m not going to push it too hard. Plus, I have to set the bar low so I can actually PR on my 10K times unlike my 5K.
Anyway, here’s not the rest of my cardio challenge played out.
6/20/11 – 6/26/11
Tuesday: 3 Mile Run – Completed
Wednesday: Bike 40 minutes – Completed
Thursday: 2 Mile Run – Completed
Saturday: Bike 60 minutes – missed due to a wedding reception in Wisconsin that I didn’t know about when I set up the challenge.
Sunday: 4.5 Mile Run – Completed
6/27/11 – 7/3/11
Tuesday: 3 Mile Run – Completed
Wednesday: Bike 40 minutes – Completed
Thursday: 2 Mile Run – Completed on Saturday morning
Saturday: Freebie. I’ll be in Michigan for the 4th of July so there will be lots of swimming, and tubing, and wakeboarding. There will be plenty of activity.
Sunday: 5 Mile Run – Since I ran on Saturday morning
7/4/11 – 7/10/11
Tuesday: 3 Mile Run – Completed I had some pain in my upper butt/ lower back, but
Wednesday: Bike 45 minutes – Completed
Thursday: 2 Mile Run – Skipped: The pain in my lower back/ upper butt area was sticking around. Rather than push through it I decided to take an extra rest day to let it heal up
Saturday: Bike 60 minutes – Skipped: my lower back/ butt was feeling better when I woke up, but as the day progressed it started to get sore again. I decided to skip the ride to make sure I was good to go for Sunday’s 5.5 mile run.
Sunday: 5.5 Mile Run – Completed: It was hot, sweaty and pretty miserable, but I got it done.
7/11/11 – 7/17/11
Tuesday: 3 Mile Run – Completed
Wednesday: Bike 30 minutes – Completed
Thursday: 2 Mile Run – Completed
Sunday: 10K Race Day!
Overall I completely missed 4 cardio session, and completed 21 out of 25 total cardio sessions. (I’m not counting the two days I skipped due to my back/ butt pain since it wasn’t a case of laziness or poor planning. I was intentionally skipping those workouts to avoid injury. ) That’s an 84% completion rate which means Garmin velcro strap here I come!
Unfortunately, I was less successful on the strength training side of the challenge. I did basically none. It’s kind of sad really. I don’t know why strength training is such a struggle for me. I think I just need to find the approach that works best for me/ is easiest to stick to. That’s going to be the focus of my next fitness challenge which I will be introducing next Friday!
Hope everyone has an awesome weekend!
